Nick Hobson (Player of the Match):Yeah look the guys laid a platform. It's difficult to start here in Perth. We got a bit of momentum and fortunately it was on my side today. It was awesome in the final over. We can definitely. I think it was a great fielding effort. Ashton set the crowd on fire with that direct.
19:20 PM IST||MATCH SUMMARY|| Perth Scorchers won by 33 runs.
Nick Hobson 47*(16) | Cooper Connolly 37(37) | Matthew Renshaw 36(24) Spencer Johnson 4/20 | Jason Behrendorff 2/32 | Andrew Tye 2/23
It all started with team Brisbane Heat winning the toss and deciding to have a bowl first. Perth Scorchers came out to bat and they didn't start the way they might have thought of. Scorchers lost an early wicket with Finn Allen moving back on a score of golden duck. After this, both Cooper Connolly and Matthew Hurst made a small partnership between them which kept their scoreboard ticking. But Scorchers kept losing wickets at regular intervals, which deprived them of the opportunity to score runs at a rapid pace. Most of their middle-order batters moved back after scoring in the range of 20-25 runs. Then at a later stage, Nick Hobson came in and shifted the whole momentum towards the Perth Scorchers. He played a valuable knock of 47 runs in just 16 deliveries. This helped them to reach a total of 165 runs which later became teh winning total as well. In terms of bowling, all three Jason Behrendorff, Andrew Tye, and Matthew Kelly got 2 wickets each.
After this, Brisbane Heat came out for a chase but they also started similarly by losing an early wicket, just the way Perth Scorchers did. None of their top-order batters performed the way expected. Only Matthew Renshaw and Max Bryant kept some hope alive for a small period only, which also went wasted as they threw their wickets under pressure. They did a brilliant job in bowling for sure, Spencer Johnson got 4 wicket hall. Matthew Kuhnemann and Nathan McSweeney also grabbed 1 wicket each.
All this led team Perth Scorchers to reach the victory podium quite comfortably in the end.
19.4 Andrew Tye to Spencer Johnson, WICKET! All over as the Brisbane Heat register a convincing 33 run victory. Johnson makes some room and tries to launch this full one around the leg stump down the ground, Johnson loses his shape while swinging across the line, gets beaten and the leg stump has been rattled.
19.3 Andrew Tye to Spencer Johnson, FOUR! Slapped down the ground for a boundary. Shorter length a shade outside off and Spencer was ready for it, clears his front leg and swats it over the mid-on fielder finding the boundary.
Mandatory concussion check is happening at the moment for Spencer Johnson
19.2 Andrew Tye to Spencer Johnson, Johnson has been struck on the helmet here. Around the head height and Johnson misses out on the pull, clanks into his head and the physios are out there conducting a concussion test.
19.1 Andrew Tye to Spencer Johnson, back of a length delivery around middle, Johnson makes some space and tries to swipe across the line, gets beaten.
Andrew Tye with the last over of this innings
Both Kuhnemann and Jonhson tried to swing their bat hard but they were not able to touch most of the deliveries due to a lot of slower ones by Kelly.
