That brings us to the end of our coverage for this BBL encounter. Till the next time, this is myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off also on behalf of my fellow commentator and good mate Bidipto Datta.
Brisbane Heat won by 5 wickets (with 7 deliveries to spare)
Max Bryant 72(35) | Spencer Johnson 3/39(4) David Warner 50(36) | Lockie Ferguson 2/21(4)
It turned out to be a stunning comeback from the Brisbane Heat as they registered a comprehensive 5 wicket victory over the Sydney Thunder. At the halfway stage of the run chase, the Brisbane Heat was well behind in the game but the acceleration post the halfway stage was quite incredible. Powered by two special knocks by Matt Renshaw and Max Bryant, the Brisbane Heat chased down the target of 174 with seven deliveries to spare.
Jack Wood who was elevated to the opening position was castled in the very first over by Lockie Ferguson. Nathan McSweeney ended up scooping a Dan Christian delivery to the keeper. Colin Munro struck a couple of lusty blows but never found any momentum. The pressure was building which resulted in the departure of Colin Munro. At the halfway stage, the score read just 52 and they needed a blistering knock from somewhere.
Out came Max Bryant and Matt Renshaw as the duo turned the game on its head with some sublime hitting. It was Bryant in particular who cut loose at an important juncture of the game. They took the power surge in the 11th over and went onto add 20 runs off the first over and followed it up with 12 in the next. The momentum was back with them and there was no looking back from there on.
Bryant smashed 7 fours and 4 sixes during his breezy knock of 72 off 35 deliveries. He was trapped in front of the stumps by Lockie Ferguson but by then, the Brisbane Heat was just within touching distance of the target. Renshaw was still out there and eventually remained unbeaten on 48 to see his side through. Lockie Ferguson was the pick of the bowlers for the Sydney Thunder with a couple of scalps to his name.
Max Bryant (Player of the Match, 72 runs off 35 balls): Matt Renshaw and me had to change things up after the drinks break. We just had to! And we were clear about what to do. We backed ourselves and got it done! We dream of moments like this, Matt and me, we really do. So, this is great! It wasn't easy to do what we did, but with this kind of crowd support, nothing is impossible I guess!
18.5 Wes Agar to Michael Neser, BRISBANE HEAT GET THE JOB DONE! Back of a length on off-stump. Neser steps back a bit and pats it down to short cover point for a quick single. And the crowd is on its feet!
18.4 Wes Agar to Michael Neser, DROPPED! IN FACT, MISSED! Good length slower ball on off-stump. Heaved from the back foot across the line. But Ferguson could not quite get a hand to it going back from wide mid-on. Two runs taken!
18.3 Wes Agar to Michael Neser, FOUR RUNS! Slightly back of a length on off-and-middle. Neser stays on the back foot and swings hard to pick the gap to deep backward square for a boundary!
Michael Neser, RHB comes out to the crease.
18.2 Wes Agar to Tom Alsop, EASY CATCH! Good length ball on middle-and-off. Alsop tried to drive it on the up, down the ground. But the ball took the shoulder of the bat and lobbed up to cover. The fielder there took it really comfortably!
18.1 Wes Agar to Tom Alsop, SIX RUNS! Good length ball on the leg-and-middle line from over the wicket. Whipped off the pads over deep backward square-leg's left for a maximum!
Wes Agar [3-0-48-0] is back into the attack.
Christian ends the over with a couple of dot deliveries but the match seems to be in the grasp of the Brisbane Heat. They need just 13 more runs off two overs and it will take something extraordinary from the Sydney Thunder bowlers to defend the score.

Daniel Christian [3-0-16-1] is back into the attack.
That's the end of the 17th over and a tidy over from Lockie Ferguson. Not sure why the final delivery wasn't given a wide but still the target very much in reach for the Brisbane Heat.
