Erik Jones is one of the few drivers who won a consecutive triple-header when it comes to the prestigious Rookie of the Year honor. He won the title in the Truck Series in 2015, in the Xfinity Series in 2016, and in the Cup Series in 2017.

The 27-year-old Byron native won his first Cup Series race, narrowly holding off Martin Truex Jr. at Daytona in July 2018. He was driving for Joe Gibbs Racing back then.

The following year, Jones picked up a victory at the crown jewel Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. He also started off his 2020 season with a win in the Busch Light Clash at Daytona International Speedway.

Jones signed a multi-year contract with Legacy Motor Club (then known as Petty GMS Motorsports) and got his team their first victory, again at the famous Southern 500 in 2022. Today, he is in his eighth full season in the Cup arena and also his fourth, wheeling the #43 Toyota for Legacy MC.

Who are Erik Jones Parents?

Erik Jones is the son of Dave Jones and Carol Jones.

Who is Carol Jones?

Erik Jones’ mother Carol played a pivotal role in introducing her son to the world of racing when he was just seven years old. Today, a volunteer at the Erik Jones Foundation, Carol started her career as a nurse at Hurley Medical Centre in Flint, MI.

Even then, she didn't stop her education. Simultaneously managing her duties in her family and her day job, Carol completed her BSc in Nursing and earned a certificate as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. Later, she also succeeded in earning a Masters in Nursing.

Who is Dave Jones?

Sadly, Jones’ dad never got to see his son debut in the Cup Series as he succumbed to lung and brain cancer back in 2016 at the age of 53. Needless to say, his father was the one responsible for shaping his personality as well as his professional demeanour.

“My dad was pretty heavily involved in my racing, especially the backside of it – the planning, where my money was going,” Jones admitted in an interview post the tragedy. “I never had to worry about the money I was making or bills I was paying, I would just call my dad and say, ‘I’ve got this problem. What do you think?’ He would always have the answer…”

What Nationality are Erik Jones Parents?
