After years of hard work, Vinovich in 2004, was promoted to the position of referee and he made his official debut as an NFL referee in a match between the Houston Texans and the Dallas Cowboys in the 2004 season.

As the year went by Vinovich officiated in many big games and he also officiated in two Super Bowls once in 2015 and the other one in 2018. He was also the alternate referee for the Super Bowl in 2013. Bill Vinovich is married to Jeanette Vinovich. The couple have now been married for 30 years and have been blessed with two children.
