Currently, he is 62 years old. Before his journey as an official in the NFL began, Vinovich played college football with the Slippery Rock The Rock football team at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania for four years.

His professional career as an official in the NFL started when he was hired as a side judge by the NFL in 2001. He was promoted to the position of referee in 2004 and he made his official NFL debut as a referee in the 2004 season in a match between the Houston Texans and the Dallas Cowboys. Vinovich was named as the alternate referee of the Super Bowl in 2013. He also worked as the official NFL referee in two Super Bowls once in 2015 and the other in 2018. Bill Vinovich is considered as one of the best referees in the entire NFL due to his fairness and fierce mentality to make quick and unbiased decisions in crucial moments.

Bill Vinovich is married to Jeanette Vinovich. The couple now have been married for over 30 years. Jeanette Vinovich is a stay-at-home, she is a very private person and keeps her personal life hidden from the spotlight.

William Vinovich IV is a financial analyst and Shawna Vinovich is a lawyer. The Vinovich family does not share much about their personal life.
