Brian Michael Daboll is a Canadian-American football head coach for the New York Giants, as of the 2024 NFL season. Before joining the Giants in 2022, he worked with several other teams, including the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and New England Patriots, as well as the Alabama Crimson Tide.

During his collegiate career at the University of Rochester, Daboll played as a safety. After graduating, he was hired as a restricted earnings coach by the College of William & Mary in 1997. He then served as a graduate assistant from 1998 to 1999 at Michigan State University, before beginning his NFL career with the New England Patriots at the age of 24 in 2000. Since then, Daboll has gained a lot of experience in the NFL and has moved up in his coaching career

William & Mary (1997)

Daboll started his coaching career as a volunteer assistant at William & Mary in 1997.

Michigan State (1998–1999)

Under head coach Nick Saban, Daboll then served as a graduate assistant at Michigan State from 1998 to 1999.

New England Patriots (2000-2006)

Daboll began his NFL career with the New England Patriots as a defensive assistant under head coach Bill Belichick in 2000.

In 2002, he was promoted to the position of wide receivers coach. During his time with the team from 2002 to 2006, Daboll won three Super Bowl titles with the Patriots, including Super Bowls XXXVI, XXXVIII, and XXXIX, all under the leadership of Coach Belichick and their star quarterback, Tom Brady.

New York Jets (2007–2008)

In 2007, Daboll was appointed as the quarterbacks coach for the New York Jets under head coach Eric Mangini, a position he held for two seasons until 2008. During his time with the Jets, Daboll coached quarterbacks Chad Pennington, Kellen Clemens, and Brett Favre.

Cleveland Browns (2009–2010)

In 2009, Daboll joined the Cleveland Browns as the offensive coordinator, reuniting under head coach, Eric Mangini. He held the position for two seasons, as the Browns’ offense was ranked at the bottom of the league for both the seasons.

Miami Dolphins (2011)

In 2011, Daboll was hired as the offensive coordinator under head coach Tony Sparano. After a rocky start to the 2011 NFL season, Sparano was fired and Daboll was not retained under new head coach, Joe Philbin.

Kansas City Chiefs (2012)

In 2012, the Kansas City Chiefs hired Daboll as their offensive coordinator, under head coach Romeo Crennel. The Chiefs finished the 2012 NFL season with a league-worst 2–14 record, leading to Crennel's dismissal and Daboll not being retained by new head coach, Andy Reid.

New England Patriots (2013–2016)

Daboll returned to the Patriots as their tight ends coach in 2013, and remained with the team until 2016, winning Super Bowl XLIX and Super Bowl LI during that time.

Alabama (2017)

Daboll became the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Alabama in 2017. Under head coach Nick Saban, he helped the team reach and win the 2018 National Championship Game, defeating the Georgia Bulldogs 26-23.

Buffalo Bills (2018-2021)

From 2018 to 2021, Daboll returned to the NFL as the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills under head coach Sean McDermott. Notably, he won the Associated Press NFL Assistant Coach of the Year Award for the 2020 season, as the Bills' offense finished second that year with an average of 31.3 points per game.

New York Giants (2022–present)

Daboll was appointed as the head coach of the New York Giants on 28th January, 2022. For the team's performance during that season, he earned the Associated Press 2022 NFL Coach of the Year honor.
