Following his collegiate career, Steele is set to make his NFL debut in the upcoming 2024 season. Notably, he played for both Ball State University and the University of California, Los Angeles during his college years.

During his collegiate career, he initially committed to playing football for the Ball State Cardinals. Over his two seasons there, he rushed for 2,447 yards and scored 20 touchdowns, while also recording 41 receptions for 323 yards. In 2022, he earned First-team All-MAC honors and received the 2021 John Hodge Award. After the 2021 season, he transferred to UCLA, where he concluded his college career with 847 rushing yards, 6 rushing touchdowns, and 17 receptions for 163 yards. Originally from Greenwood, Indiana, he attended Center Grove High School, where he was named Mr. Football in Indiana following the 2020 season and was also selected as the MaxPreps Indiana Player of the Year.
