Case Keenum Contract
Case Keenum during a Cleveland Browns v Houston Texans game

American football quarterback Case Keenum plays for the Houston Texans as of December 2024. The Brownwood, Texas native went undrafted in the 2012 NFL draft and spent his rookie season on the Houston Texans practice squad after getting signed by the franchise. According to Pro Football Reference, Keenums’s next three seasons saw him start 15 games, mostly due to the team’s starting signal caller getting injured or benched. 2016 was the first year when Keenum got the starting job from week 1 of the NFL season. However, nine games into the season, Keenum was benched in favor of the first overall pick from the 2016 NFL draft, Jared Goff. Keenums’s best season from an individual and team success came in the 2017 season, when he got the starting signal-caller duties after Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback Sam Bradford went down with an injury in week 2. He started in 15 games that year and led the Vikings to sit atop the NFC North with a stellar 13-3 record. Keenum took Minnesota all the way to the NFC Championship game, where they lost to the eventual Super Bowl winner Philadelphia Eagles. He concluded the season throwing for 3547 yards and a career-high 22 passing touchdowns (via Pro Football Reference). Keenum’s last stint as a starting QB came in Denver in 2018, when he started all 16 games and led the Broncos to a 6-10 record on the back of career-high passing yards (3890).

Since his stint with the Broncos, Keenum has only started 12 games in the next six seasons with four franchises: Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, Washington Commanders, and Houston Texans. The 6-foot-1 signal caller attended Wylie High School in Abilene, Texas where he had a career record of 31-11. After concluding his schooling, Keenum committed to the University of Texas in 2006 and spent six seasons with the Cougars. Keenum played in 57 games in his collegiate career amassing 19,217 passing yards and 155 passing touchdowns (via Sports Reference).
