He began playing football since his school days at St. Joseph's Preparatory School, recording 25 touchdowns and 1,564 rushing yards for 149 carries. The four-star recruit opted for the University of Georgia in 2017-2019. He was named both the second-team All-SEC and the first-team All-SEC in 2018 and 2019.

Forgoing his senior year, Swift participated in the 2020 NFL Draft and was selected by the Detroit Lions for 2020-2023. After which, he traded to the Philadelphia Eagles for the 2023 season. Most recently, in March 2024, he signed a three-year deal with the Chicago Bears.
