The Philadelphia Eagles drafted him with the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Smith was born on November 14th, 1998, in Amite City, Louisiana, where he spent the vast majority of his childhood and started off his football career at Amite High Magnet School.
After finishing high school, he committed to playing high school football at the University of Alabama to play collegiate football. In the 2018 college football playoff national championship game against Georgia, Smith's only catch resulted in a game-winning 41-yard touchdown in overtime 26-23 victory, as per AL.
