San Francisco 49ers linebacker Keaundre Greenlaw was drafted in the fifth round (148th pick) of the 2019 NFL Draft. Born in Arkansas, he attended Fayetteville High School. He grew up in group homes and shelters in Arkansas from the age of eight. Greenlaw met his defensive coach Brian Early when he was 14 and in high school.The defensive coach invited Greenlaw to stay with his family. He was formally adopted at the age of 21 and has been a part of the family since.

Greenlaw was part of the squad which won the Class 7A 2011 state championship. He started at cornerback in high school recording over 50 tackles before moving to string safety as a junior. He committed to stay home and play for the Razorbacks at the University of Arkansas.

He contributed to the squad from 2015 to 2018 before registering for the NFL Draft. Greenlaw and the 49ers signed a four-year deal worth $2.8 million, including a $300k signing bonus. He was thrust straight into action making his debut in the season-opener win over Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He started 11 games in his rookie year with 92 tackles and one interception.

He has been a starter in most games since 2020. Greenlaw made a game-deciding interception against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC divisional round, thanks to which the 49ers will play their fourth NFC title game in five years.

Greenlaw has two sisters, Camryn and Aivery. In an interview, Greenlaw talked about how they both had an instant impact on his life. He gives them credibility for his being responsible and says it’s an exceptional feeling to be a brother. He sees himself as someone who sets an example for his sisters and is a better person every day.
