Michigan-born place kicker Jake Moody is a two-time All-American and the 2021 Lou Groza Award winner. He currently plays for the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft. He just finished his rookie season in February 2024 very nearly winning the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Moody played college football at the University of Michigan where Moody set a Michigan single-game record with six field goals in his freshman season. He also converted a 69-yarder in practice, calling it his personal best. Moreover, he had a 100% conversion rate of the extra point kicks in his senior year. Moody went on to score a game-winner against Illinois becoming Michigan’s career field goal leader in 2022. He finished his career with 355 points, an all-time Michigan scoring record.

Moody became the only second kicker since 2016 to be drafted in the top 100 selections. Moody signed a four-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers worth $5.4 million. He introduced himself to the world by setting the longest streak of extra points (53) since the shifting of the yard line. He appeared in 16 games in the 2023 regular season having an 84% field goal conversion rate.

Also, Moody kicked a 33-yard field goal in the NFC Conference Championship against the Detroit Lions to give the 49ers a commanding victory. He was a perfect 3 of 3 from field goal range in Super Bowl LVIII but missed a crucial extra point which allowed the Chiefs back into the game.
