Jalen Hurts is an American professional football player for the NFL team named Philadelphia Eagles. He was born on August 7, 1998 in Houston, Texas. Hurts played college football at the University of Alabama for three years before transferring to the University of Oklahoma for his final year. As a freshman at Alabama, Hurts was a starting quarterback on the team. He recorded 2,780 passing yards and 23 touchdowns. He was named SEC Freshman of the Year and won the award for SEC Offensive Player of the Year. His sophomore season yielded no awards or honors and was completed with Hurts recording 2,081 passing yards and 17 touchdowns. His last year at Alabama was uneventful in terms of accolades but Hurts stepped up as a backup quarterback at this time and led the team to a spot in the College Football Playoff.

In 2019, Hurts transferred to the University of Oklahoma where he broke the single-game record for yards in a debut game. Hurts’ season at Oklahoma was successful with him leading the team to the Big 12 Championship. He had 3,851 passing yards and 32 passing touchdowns. Hurts was drafted as the 53rd pick in the 2nd round of the 2020 NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. Hurts became the Eagles’ starting quarterback in his rookie season and quickly seized the opportunity to become a star quarterback in the league. He led the Eagles to the Super Bowl championship game in 2022 but was unable to win the game against the Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes.

Hurts signed a contract extension with the Eagles in 2023 worth $255 million over a period of 5 years. After starting the 2023 season 10-1, everything went downhill for Hurts-led Eagles as they finished the season with an 11-6 record and got steamrolled by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1st round of playoffs. With a new coordinator in Kellen Moore, Philly fans would be hoping that Hurts can find his 2022 magic once again for the 2024 season.
