James Richard Garoppolo, popularly known as Jimmy Garoppolo is an American football quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams as of the 2024 NFL season. The New England Patriots selected him with the 62nd overall pick in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He was born on November 2, 1991, in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Garoppolo primarily served as a backup quarterback to Tom Brady for his initial few seasons in the NFL. However, in 2017, Garoppolo was traded to the San Francisco 49ers, where he was named the team’s starting quarterback. He was able to shine with the opportunity and established himself as the starting quarterback in the league by stabilizing the 49ers. During his six-year tenure in the Bay Area, he led the 49ers to two NFC Championship games and one Superbowl. However, he was unable to get the 49ers their sixth Lombardi Trophy. In 2024, he joined the Los Angeles Rams on a one-year deal. He started 55 games for the San Francisco 49ers from 2017 to 2022 season. He won two Super Bowl rings during his time in New England.
