Joe Tippmann is a football player who played for the Wisconsin Badgers. Tippmann plays in the position of a center. He was also pursuing a major in retailing and consumer behavior along with his football at the University of Wisconsin.
When Tippmann played tackle for Bishop Dwenger in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in high school, he established the standard for being a significant impact blocker. Tippmann was named to the first team of the Summit Athletic Conference in both his junior and senior years. He was also the league MVP as a senior while leading the team.
Tippmann joined the University of Wisconsin as a four-star recruit. Tippmann was a reserve in 2020 after being a redshirt freshman in 2019. He abruptly switched to the center in 2021. Because of his unusual physique, it wasn't initially obvious how he'd fit into that capacity. However, he developed week by week and by his final start, he was a dominant center. Tippmann continued to serve as the team's starting center during the 2022 campaign as well.
Tippmann's stature is intimidating for a center. The Wisconsin center has a long, broad build with enough width to encircle and hold opponents across his face. Tippmann is a remarkably explosive athlete considering his size. This is confirmed by both his mobility on film and his claimed 10-yard split. Tippmann has shown flexibility at center and guard because of his stature and quickness. Joe Tippmann is considered to be one of the best centers from the 2023 NFL Draft class as it remains to be seen who drafts the 6 feet 6 inches defensive force.
