Joel Michael Bitonio is a professional American football guard for the Cleveland Browns as of the 2024 NFL season. The Browns selected him with the 35th overall pick in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft. Bitonio was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in his debut season with the Browns. In 2015, he was placed on the injured reserve, that season, he played in 10 games (according to Pro Football Reference). The following season, in Week 5, Bitonio suffered a foot injury and was again placed on the injured reserve. In 2017, Bitonio extended his contract for five more years with the Browns. After the season ended, he was named second-team All-Pro and to his first Pro Bowl. He was named to the All-Pro team for five successive seasons, from 2018 to 2022. In 2022, he was named the Browns Walter Payton Man of the Year.

Bitonio joined the University of Nevada for collegiate football. In 2009, he redshirted through his freshman season. In 2011, he started all 13 games. The following season, he was considered the best offensive lineman on the team. As a senior, he was named preseason All-Mountain West second team. Prior to this, Bitonio enrolled in Long Beach Wilson High School where as a senior he was named to the Long Beach Dream Team for both football and basketball. Along with this, he led the league in shot put.
