In his sophomore year, Colson emerged as a standout player with 101 tackles as he led the Wolverines in 2022. By the season's end, he received accolades as a second-team linebacker from conference coaches and a third-team linebacker from the media on the All-Big Ten team. During his junior season, Colson continued his stellar performance, as he led the Wolverines in 2023 with 95 tackles (via Sports Reference). His achievements were acknowledged with an All-Big Ten second-team linebacker designation by both coaches and media. He was also honored with the Lott IMPACT Trophy.
