Toney was introduced to the game at a very young age, enabling him to acquire a passion for the sport. He used to hone his skills in the playgrounds and local parks around his community. He attended high school at Blount High School where he started his career as a quarterback. From his high school days, Toney was well known for being a dual-threat quarterback, being equally good at passing the ball and rushing the ball. Toney had a stellar high school career, marked by various accolades such as being named to Coastal Alabama First-Team and Al.com Super All-State team.
