He attended Miami Northwestern Senior High School, where he received a four-star recruit rating. Kinchens' commitment to the University of Miami paved the way for his college football career. In his true freshman year in 2021, Kinchens played in all 12 games and recorded 44 tackles. In his sophomore year in 2022, he had amassed 59 tackles, six interceptions, and scored a touchdown. He started all 10 games he played and ranked third on the team with 59 total tackles, also leading the team with five interceptions during the 2023 season (via Sports Reference)
