Khalil Mack

Khalil Mack is a linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL. Drafted by the Oakland Raiders as the fifth overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Mack quickly made his mark in the league. During his time in college at the University at Buffalo, he set NCAA records, tying for the most career tackles for loss (75) and holding the record for forced fumbles (16). In 2015, Mack became the first player in NFL history to be named First-Team All-Pro at two different positions (defensive end and outside linebacker) in the same season. After being traded to the Chicago Bears in 2018, he signed a six-year, $141 million extension, making him the highest-paid defensive player at the time. Mack was traded to the Chargers in 2022, where he continues to play.

What team does Khalil Mack play for?

as of 2024, Khalil Mack is playing for the Los Angeles Chargers. After the 2021 season came to an end, the Chicago Bears were in a bit of a tight spot. On one hand, they had a star linebacker who was still every bit as good as earlier, but on the other hand, they needed to rebuild and acquire new talent for which Mack's big contract was a concern. The Bears decided to trade Mack to the Chargers.

In his first season with his new team, the dominant defender played all 17 games and was once again a force to reckon with on the turf. Playing alongside Joey Bosa means that this pair is a deadly combination for their opponents as both players are equally capable of causing havoc. However, it is important to note that at 32 years of age, Khalil Mack may see his downfall within a couple of years.

Khalil Mack Previous Teams

The ever-so-relentless defender first started his career in the NFL with the then-Oakland Raiders (Las Vegas Raiders) when they selected him as the fifth overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Mack got off to a lightning-quick start in his rookie year and finished third in the race for Defensive Rookie of the Year as Aaron Donald won the award in 2014.

In 2015 he continued to dominate and even gave the Raiders more flexibility as he played in two positions, the right defensive end and the outside linebacker. By the end of the season, he became the only man in the history of the league to make the All-Pro First-Team at both positions in the same season. 2016 and 2017 were again excellent years from a personal standpoint as he recorded his second and third consecutive seasons of double digit sacks to go along with more than 70 combined tackles in each year. His 2016 season garnered him the Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Wanting more money than what the Raiders were willing to give him, he was traded to the Chicago Bears where he signed a six year extension on a contract worth a staggering $141 million and a guarantee of $90 million. After his first season in Chicago which was again a stellar one, his production started deteriorating slowly and he also picked up some injuries. He ended his time with the Bears in 2022 after four years in the windy city.
