Marquez Valdes-Scantling is an American football wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints as of the 2024 NFL season. The Green Bay Packers selected him as the 174th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. After spending four seasons with the Packers, Marquez Valdes-Scantling joined the Kansas City Chiefs squad for the 2022 season, helping the Chiefs win the Super Bowl in 2023 and 2024. However, Marquez Valdes-Scantling was released by the Chiefs in the 2024 off-season. He signed a 1-year deal with the Buffalo Bills in May 2024. However, he signed with the New Orleans Saints after getting released by the Bills on October 15th, 2024, the same day Amari Cooper got traded to Buffalo.

He attended Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he began playing high school football. As a senior, he concluded his season with 50 receptions for 800 receiving yards and 14 receiving touchdowns. After completing high school, he initially committed to playing college football at North Carolina State University, before ultimately joining the University of South Florida. After a four-season stint with the Packers, Valdes-Scantling signed a three-year contract with the Chiefs, valued at $30 million in 2022. His latest one-year incentive-laden deal with the Buffalo Bills in 2024 can go up to $4.5 million. It includes a $1.125 million signing bonus and $2.25 million guaranteed.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling College

Valdes-Scantling attended both North Carolina State University and the University of South Florida. Initially enrolling at NC State, he played college football for the NC State Wolfpack from 2013 to 2014. Later, he transferred to the USF, participating in and playing for the South Florida Bulls from 2015 to 2017.

He recorded 22 receptions for 281 yards in all seven games played in 2013 at North Carolina State University. As a sophomore, he concluded the 2014 season with 22 receptions for 257 yards and secured one receiving touchdown.

He did not play during the 2015 season at USF due to the transfer rules. During the 2016 season, he played in 11 games, recorded 22 receptions for 415 yards, and scored five touchdowns. He concluded his final season at USF with 53 receptions for 879 yards and six touchdowns, adding an extra 108 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.
