Theodore Edmond Bridgewater Jr. is an American NFL quarterback playing for the Detroit Lions in the 2024 NFL season. He was selected by the Minnesota Vikings as the 32nd overall pick in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. After announcing his retirement in February 2024, he re-entered the NFL with the Lions in December 2024. Before joining the Lions, he played for the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, and Miami Dolphins. He was also selected to the Pro Bowl in 2015 and named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2014.
Bridgewater played high school football at Miami Northwestern Senior High School under coach Billy Rolle. As a senior, he threw for 2,606 yards and 22 touchdowns and was selected to play in the 2011 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. He was also rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals.com.
