Jalen Hurts is an American NFL quarterback who plays for the Philadelphia Eagles as of February 2025. Hurts was drafted into the NFL as a 53rd pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. After backing up Carson Wentz for most of his rookie year, Hurts was declared the starter in 2021. Hurts had a breakout season in 2022, where he was a finalist in the running for the award of being the league’s MVP and led the Eagles to the Super Bowl game. In 2023, Hurts signed a contract with the Eagles, that made him NFL’s highest-paid player for a short period. In the 2024 season, Hurts won Super Bowl LIX and was named Super Bowl MVP.

He started playing when he attended Channelview High School for his high school education. Hurts was coached by his father Averion Hurts Sr. in high school. After finishing high school, Hurts transitioned into collegiate football where he played for the University of Alabama. He became a starting quarterback under Coach Nick Saban and was selected as an All-American and SEC Offensive Player of the Year in 2016. Hurts played at the University of Alabama until his junior year. For his senior year, Hurts left the University of Alabama and enrolled in the University of Oklahoma. According to Sports Reference, he ended the season at Oklahoma with 3,851 passing yards, and 32 passing touchdowns.
