Yes, James Bond was killed off in the film No Time to Die.

The 25th film, No Time to Die, starred Daniel Craig in his final outing as British superspy James Bond 007. The film was directed by American director Cary Joji Fukunaga; Fukunaga is known for directing the episodes of True Detective season 1. In this film Bond is retired from the secret service and is living a tranquil life in Jamaica.

However, his peace is short-lived when his old friend and CIA agent Felix Leiter returns and asks for help to rescue a kidnapped scientist and come face to face with a mysterious villain who armed with dangoueros new technology and poses a significant threat to humanity. Originally Danny Boyle was set to direct the film but left the project the project due to creative differences.

No time to Die’s release was delayed three times because of the COVID-19 pandemic; the film was finally released on September 30, 2021, in the UK and on October 8, 2021, in the US. The film was well received with the critics, and most of the critics and audience called it the perfect and fitting finale for Daniel Craig’s tenure as James Bond as Craig’s performance was met with huge critical acclaim. The film grossed over $744 million worldwide and was the third-highest-grossing film of 2021. The film was nominated for and won Best Original Song at the 94th Academy Awards.

At the end of the film, the new 007 Nomi tries to open the silo doors so that missiles can wipe out Safin’s base and the Heracles virus but unfortunately fails. Later Nomi leaves the island with Madeline along with Madeline and Bond’s daughter Mathilde, but Bond stays back to open silo doors and to make sure that the missile strike is successful.

He narrowly manages to kill off all of Safin’s men and get to the control room to open the silo doors. Just as Bond was rushing off to escape the island and the oncoming missiles. He saw the silo doors closing again and was rushing back to open them, Safin came from behind and shot Bond two times from behind. Then they had a physical fight in which Safin manages to infect Bond with the Heracles. Bond then gets the upper hand and breaks his arm Saifn then informs Bond that the virus he is infected with is made solely to target Madeline and Mathilde. Bond then kills Safin by shooting him three times. Then he goes up to the control room and opens the silo doors so that the missile may destroy the base.

He then informs Madeline that he is infected and will be a threat to both her and Mathilde as the changes are irreversible, so he chooses to sacrifice himself and die in the missile strike. He bid his farewell to Madeline and perished when the missile finally struck the island.

In total, six actors have played James Bond, such as Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig. Connery played Bond in six movies, Lazenby played the character only once, and Moore played the character seven times, the longest.

Then Dalton came along and played the character twice; after Dalton couldn’t return, Brosnan was cast, and he played the role four times. Brosnan’s fourth and final film, Die Another Day, was critically panned, forcing the producers and studio to reboot the franchise completely, and then Daniel Craig was cast to save the day.

He played the character five times, and with all of his movies being successful and critically acclaimed, Craig was considered the best Bond after Connery.
