Who was Gollum before he became Gollum?
Before Gollum became Gollum, he was a Hobbit named Smeagol. When Smeagol was just a regular hobbit, he was quite weird and unstable. Once, while spending time with his relative Deagol, he found The One Ring in the River Anduin. Because of that, a fight ensued between them; Smeagol got the upper hand and strangled Deagol with his bare hands. As a result of Deagol’s death, Smeagol was obsessed with the Ring and its power.
