Steve Carell left the series as his contract was till season 7. When asked about his decision to leave the show and a possible return. Carell clearly stated that he wants to spend more time with his family. However, fans of the show still think that this wasn’t the complete reason for his departure from the series.

The actual reason might be, according to Carell’s hair stylist Kim Ferry, the producers of the show never reached out to him for the renewal of his contract. Allegedly Carell wanted to return for more seasons and renew his contract, but the showrunners of The Office never reached out to him. Apparently, maybe it is a mixture of two reasons, that he wanted to spend more time with his family and the delayed attempts to bring Carell back.

Carell played the character of Micheal Scott, the central and one of the main characters of the series. Scott is the regional manager of the Scranton branch of the Dunder Mifflin paper company. Although an effective salesman and a successful manager, he sometimes can be very annoying for his employees and also the viewers, as he prioritizes his personal feelings and ambitions over his professional work. This reason also reduces productivity in the Office workspace, yet the Scranton branch is the most effective branch for the company.

But despite his behavior, Micheal treats his employees as his family and would do anything to keep his workplace healthy and happy for them. He shares a funny yet brotherly bond with Dwight, who worships Micheal and will do anything for him. There was a time when both of them tried to save their branch from shutting down. Despite their efforts, it was revealed that their branch wasn’t shutting down; it was going to absorb the Stamford branch. Micheal Scott is playful and regarded as one of the greatest characters in TV history.
