At 6 foot 3 inches tall Jones began her basketball journey at Aberdeen High School, where she won a state championship. Following her school success, Jones joined the University of Maryland, playing for the Maryland Terrapins women's college team. During her time in college, she earned three First-Team All-Big Ten selections and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2017 Big Ten Tournament.
