She was named the McDonald’s All-American in her final year of high school and received the Morgan Wooten National Player of the Year. She was recruited by the University of Connecticut's UConn Huskies, earning 5th place in the Huskies' record book for most assists. She was a two-time First Team All-AAC selection in 2019 and 2020.
Dangerfield was selected as the 16th overall pick in the second round by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2020 WNBA draft to play as a point guard. In her rookie season, she played 21 games, scoring 341 points and 75 assists, which helped her win the WNBA Rookie of the Year award and earn a spot on the WNBA All-Rookie Team.
