Born on September 23, 1996, in Jefferson City, Missouri, Napheesa Collier was drafted as the sixth overall pick by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2019 WNBA Draft. Since being drafted, Collier has led them to their maiden WNBA Commissioner Cup title in 2024. Before playing in the WNBA, Collier played college basketball at the University of Connecticut, winning the 2016 NCAA Tournament. She evolved her scoring from freshman year where she averaged a mere 6.8 points per game to 20.8 ppg in her senior year. The UConn forward also earned several individual awards like AAC Player of the Year (2017 and 2019) and Defensive Player of the Year (2019).

On August 23, 2024, Napheesa Collier made WNBA history with a historic performance against the Las Vegas Aces. Collier grabbed 18 rebounds, out-rebounding the entire Aces team, who collectively managed just 17 boards. She became only the third player in WNBA history to individually out-rebound the opposing team.
