Puff Johnson NIL deal

As of 2024, Donovan Christopher "Puff" Johnson plays guard/forward for the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Big Ten Conference. Johnson was a member of the North Carolina Tar Heels of the Atlantic Coast Conference before his move to Pennsylvania. As a junior, he won the PIAA Class 5A championship with the Moon Area High School, where he played for three seasons. When Johnson was a senior at Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix, Arizona, he averaged 14.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He picked North Carolina over Arizona, Auburn, Miami, and Louisville, among others, as a four-star recruit out of high school.

Johnson concluded his debut campaign with the Tar Heels, playing 14 games and averaging 1.1 points per game in 2020-21. In the next season, Johnson was instrumental in getting the eighth-seeded Tar Heels to the 2022 NCAA championship game. During the 2023–24 season, Puff Johnson averaged a career-high 7.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game, playing in 29 games with 12 starts. During the final four games of the season, he shot 47.1 percent from the field and averaged 13.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

According to On3, Puff Johnson has a NIL deal with Happy Valley United. However, the amount involved in the deal isn’t available on On3. According to their official website, Happy Valley United is the NIL collective that supports Penn State's 31 sports and more than 850 student-athletes.

The collective uses the strength of Nittany Nation to link student-athletes with supporters, alumni, companies, and nonprofit organizations. Supporters can get in touch with their preferred Blue and White teams through corporate sponsorships, community activities, and memberships. Penn State student-athletes can concentrate on their studies and represent their institution at the top level of collegiate athletics without worrying about extra costs thanks to NIL possibilities provided by Happy Valley United.
