He provided a standout performance against Arizona State, throwing for a career-high four touchdowns and leading his team to a commanding 55-3 victory. After the 2023 season, Barnes entered the NCAA transfer portal, signaling a new chapter in his football career. On January 9, 2024, he announced his transfer to Utah State, where he aims to continue his development and make an impact in a new program.
