Omarion Hampton’s Career

As a freshman, Omarion Hampton played in 13 games and started four of them as a running back. He caught six passes for 40 yards and a touchdown, and he ran for 401 yards and six touchdowns on 88 carries. In his collegiate debut against FAMU, Hampton amassed 101 rushing yards on 14 carries, scored two touchdowns, and was selected to the All-ACC Academic Team. Hampton's 100 rushing yards in his first game as a UNC player were the first since Carolina great Charlie "Choo Choo" Justice's 102 yards against Virginia Tech in 1946.

As a sophomore, Hampton started 12 of the 13 games in which he played running back. He received second-team All-America recognition from the AFCA, AP, Sporting News, Sports Illustrated, and CBS Sports in addition to being named a Walter Camp first-team All-American.
