Darius Taylor is a sophomore football running back playing for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. He began his high school football career at the Walled Lake Western High School where he was ranked a four-star recruit by Rivals. During his junior season, Taylor totalled 1,379 yards and 22 touchdowns after serving as a backup in his sophomore season. As a senior, Taylor sealed the season with 2,450 yards and 36 touchdowns while averaging 9.1 yards per carry.
The 5-foot-11, 210-pounder made his commitment to the University of Minnesota in 2023. The Michigan native also held offers from Boston College, Iowa, Kansas, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan State, Northwestern, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, and Wisconsin.
He burst onto the scene in his freshman season, starting in four of his six games for the Gophers. Taylor completed 591 yards on 103 carries including four touchdowns across five games before injuring himself in late September 2023.
Taylor was the conference’s leading rusher and the three-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week before missing the rest of the campaign with a leg injury. In December 2023, the true freshman announced his commitment to the Gophers for his sophomore year in 2024.
