Garret Rangel is an American college football quarterback who has stepped into his sophomore year with the Oklahoma State Cowboys. He kick-started his high school football career at Lone Star High School where he was the highest-ranked Latino high school prospect in the state of Texas. The talented quarterback from Frisco was rated a four-star prospect by ESPN and 247Sports. In his four years with the Rangers, Rangel threw for 9,333 yards and 101 touchdowns. He was also rated one of the top 25 quarterbacks nationally in the 2022 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-2, 181-pound quarterback embarked on his collegiate football journey with the Oklahoma State Cowboys over offers from Houston, Missouri State, North Texas, Northwestern, Tulsa, Vanderbilt, and Virginia Tech among others. As a freshman in 2022 with the Cowboys, Rangel appeared in four games and finished the campaign with 711 passing yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions while maintaining his redshirt status. The following year as a redshirt freshman, the Frisco native saw action in five games, starting the first three games of the season. Later, the developing quarterback lost his starting role to Alan Bowman. After two freshman seasons with the Cowboys, Rangel looks to compete for the starting quarterback role at OSU in the 2024 season.
