Jayden Ikaika Maiava is an American football quarterback who was born in Honolulu, Hawaii but moved to Las Vegas, Nevada at the age of 13 with his family. He attended the Liberty High School in his senior year but also played high school football in both Sierra Vista and Kaimuki. As a senior, Jason thrived with Patriots throwing 2,027 yards and 24 touchdowns and led them to the state title game. Jayden was rated a three-star recruit in the class of 2022 according to 247Sports.
Maiava embarked on his collegiate football journey with UNLV Rebels over offers from Auburn, Louisville and Tennessee in 2022. He redshirted his freshman season after joining the program and did not see any action in the quarterback position.
As a redshirt freshman in 2023, Maiava tallied over 3,000 yards and 17 touchdowns with 10 interceptions and led the Rebels to their first-ever conference championship game. Maiava was named the 2023 Mountain West Freshman of the Year for the Rebel’s incredible performance this past season.
The standout sophomore decided to enter the transfer portal in January 2024 and announced his decision to transfer to Georgia before flipping his commitment to USC Trojans. Maiava has a better chance to earn the starting role at USC despite Miller Moss leading the battle for the first-choice quarterback.
