Josh Hoover is an American football quarterback currently plying his trade with the TCU Horned Frogs. He began his high school football career at the Rockwall-Heath High School where he was a two-sport athlete in both football and baseball. He was rated a three-star prospect and was ranked the No.33 quarterback in the state of Texas by 247Sports. Hoover was honored with the 2021 Tom Landry Award which is given to the top high school player from North Texas. Hoover concluded his school prep career with 9,953 passing yards and 108 touchdowns.
The 6-foot-1, 196-pound quarterback embarked on his collegiate football journey with TCU after initially committing to play for the Indiana Hoosiers. Hoover held offers from Arkansas, Illinois State, Memphis, Nevada, SMU, Houston, UTSA, and Utah State among others. As a freshman in 2022 with the Frogs, Hoover saw action in only one game and redshirted the season. The following year as a redshirt freshman, the Rockwall native started the final six games of the season making his first career start against BYU. Hoover threw for 2,206 yards and one touchdown in his first season as TCU’s starter.

Coming out of Rockwall-Heath as a three-star prospect, Hoover initially committed to the Indiana Hoosiers before announcing his de-commitment to play for TCU Horned Frogs. The Rockwall native redshirted his freshman season in 2022 after seeing action in the 59-17 win over Tarleton. The following year, Hoover earned the starting job at the quarterback position and made the final six starts of the season. In his first against BYU, Hoover completed 37 of 58 passes for 439 yards and four touchdowns. He put on a show on his first start as he led TCU to a 44-11 win over BYU.
