Mikey Pauley is a redshirt sophomore for the Kansas Jayhawks. He is a quarterback from Overland Park, Kansas. Mikey graduated from Blue Valley Northwest High School, where he was established as a multi-sport athlete playing football, basketball, and baseball. Mikey frequently credits his elder brother for being his role model. His athletic capability is also from his elder brother as he is a college athlete too. Since childhood, Mikey always looked up to Marcus Mariota, who inspired him to be a dual-threat quarterback. He took notes about mental toughness from Josh Allen, as he understood the importance of approaching fearlessly when playing at the quarterback. Mikey developed a passion for the game from a tender age and immediately started playing football. He has the tendency to learn from every endeavor which resulted in Mikey playing one of his best seasons during his senior year at Blue Valley Northwest High School.
He helped his team to a 12-1 record and win their first-ever state championship. This was a highly recognized accolade that showcased his leadership and athleticism. Pauley made 1,945 passing yards and rushed for 1,214 yards which earned him a total of 45 touchdowns. He received the prominent ‘Thomas A. Simone Award,’ for being the best high school football player in the whole of Kansas City back in 2021. In 2022, he was also awarded the MaxPreps Kansas Player of the Year. Mikey rushed and threw for about 7,500 yards and got 88 touchdowns, this shows how impactful his performances were. At the end of high school, he already had scholarship offers from multiple programs, in 2022 he initially signed with Nebraska, eventually transferring to the University of Kansas to play both football and baseball.
