He led the NCAA with seven interceptions. In addition to his interceptions, he recorded 47 total tackles, two forced fumbles, and a defensive touchdown. His standout season culminated in winning the prestigious Bronko Nagurski Trophy, awarded to the nation's top defensive player, in 2023. As of December 2024, Watts received Unanimous All-American honors in 2023 and Consensus All-American honors in 2024.
