Ayao Komatsu is a prominent figure in the world of Formula 1 racing. He is from Japan and is currently designated as the team principal of the Haas F1 Racing Team. Born on January 28, 1976, to Keiko and Yuichiro Komatsu in Tokyo, Japan, he did his schooling in Tokyo and later moved to the United Kingdom, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in automotive engineering at Loughborough University.

According to LinkedIn, he obtained his PhD in vehicle dynamics and control in 2003. Komatsu started his racing career by debuting for British American Racing in 2003. He worked as a tire engineer for two years. Then, in 2006, he joined Renault as a motorsport engineer. He had also collaborated with teams such as Lotus as a performance race engineer before becoming part of the Haas F1 team in 2016. In 2024, he was appointed as a team principal, replacing Guenther Steiner.
