The professional golfer Lydia Ko was born on April 24, 1997, in Seoul, South Korea, but is of New Zealand by nationality. Her first professional event was the 2013 CME Group Titleholders when she made her professional debut in 2013 at the age of 16 on the LPGA Tour. At the young age of 17, a prodigy widely regarded as the youngest male or female professional golfer in history shot to the top of the world rankings in 2015.

She already had two major victories, 28 professional victories, and numerous top-5 and top-10 finishes as of March 2024. She became the only amateur to win two LPGA events at the beginning of 2013, which was one of the factors that allowed her to join the LPGA at such a young age, considering the Tour's stance of only accepting players who are 18 years of age or older.

Ko broke several "younger" records to become the youngest person to achieve any kind of success in women's golf. Further to her accomplishments, she is a member of the LPGA board as Player Director, having won 21 honors and medals between 2011 and 2022. She was also admitted into the New Zealand Order of Merit and included in Time magazine's rankings of the 100 most influential people in 2014 and 2015.

She defeated Alexa Pano in the 2024 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, winning by a margin of two strokes with a score of 274, under 14, following her victories in three tournaments in 2022 and one Aramco Saudi Ladies International in 2023.

Where does Lydia Ko reside?

Lydia Ko resides in Orlando, Florida, in the United States, with her husband, Jun Chung. However, a few older online reports suggest that she might have a home in North Harbour, New Zealand, too. Given her New Zealander nationality, that's her native home. However, there is no concrete information available regarding her exact address in the public domain.

Lydia Ko’s Early Life

Ko was born in Seoul, South Korea, immigrated to New Zealand at the age of four with her family and gained her New Zealand nationality by the age of 12 in 2009. When she was five years old, her mother took her to the Pupuke Golf Club on Auckland's North Shore, where she was taught to play golf by Guy Wilson, who continued to be her coach until December 2013.

She competed in the New Zealand national amateur championships at age seven in 2005, and immediately made headlines, which was her first media interaction.

She attended Pinehurst School and Mairangi Bay Primary in Albany, New Zealand, and continued her education there through correspondence courses when she joined the professional golf circuit. Ko announced that she would begin her extramural psychology studies at Korea University in Seoul in 2015.
