In September 2023, the young Japanese golf sensation Ryo Hisatsune made history by winning his maiden DP world title, Cazoo Open de France. In the long span of 40 years, he became the first Japanese winner as a rookie on the tour. Along with this, he is the first player from Japan to win the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award.
Hisatsune has admired Hideki Matsuyama since his childhood and followed his steps after becoming a professional. Hisatsune turned professional in 2020 and has played in several tournaments since then. Currently, he is playing in the Japan Challenge Tour before appearing in the PGA Tour, the European Tour and the Japan Golf Tour.

Hisatsune started attending the European Tour Qualifying School in November 2022. He finished tied-seventh, gaining eligibility for the 2023 European Tour. Two weeks later, he finished tied for second at the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship, three shots behind Cameron Smith. Hisatsune after turning professional holds 4 professional wins and is currently playing in the Japan Challenge Tour.
