Hello and a warm welcome to the live coverage of Match Number 21 of BBL 2024 as two teams on the opposite ends of the table take on each other today at International Sports Stadium, Coffs Harbour. On one hand are the high-flying Sydney Sixers who are right on the top of the table with 4 wins out of 5 matches and challenging them will be the Brisbane Heat who have not had the best time in their campaign so far and are placed on the penultimate position with just 2 wins from their 5 games. This is Sourabh in company with Lavil and we will be with you throughout the game to narrate the whereabouts.
Sydney Sixers had a rampaging start to their campaign winning 4 on the trot before finally dropping one against the Hurricanes which also happens to be their last game. Their openers Josh Philippe and James Vince have been their backbone and have scored heavily leaving very little work for the rest of their order. Ben Dwarshuis is their top wicket-taker with 10 wickets to his name so far, making him the joint-highest in the competition. Interestingly, Sixers have chased in all 5 of their games so far being successful in 4 of them. Will the Heat put them into bat should they win the toss?
But the toss is not the thing that would be concerning the Heat who are coming into this game with a hat-trick of losses. They started the season with 2 wins out of 2 but have gone downwards since and desperately need to get their campaign back on track with some points on the table. Individual like Max Bryant (153 runs in 5 innings) and Xavier Bartlett (9 wickets in 5 matches) have performed well for the Heat but they need a lot more of their players to step up and contribute.
Both these teams met less than a week back at the Gabba and the Sixers brushed aside the challenge posed by the home team as they registered a convincing 8-wicket victory on the back of Dwarshuis' 4/32 with the ball and Philippe's unbeaten 66* in a chase.
Will the Heat level the scores this time around and get a much needed win or will the Sixers do the double over them and strengthen their position at the top of the table? Let's find out
