Aiden Markram (SEC captain): With the bat, we got off to a nice start. It was tough in the middle overs, but good partnerships helped us reach a good total. Credits to the bowlers as we were a bit worried against a batting lineup like this. We felt we were always in the game. We were happy with the total. There is a lot of good stuff with the bat and a lot of good stuff with the ball, but there is still a lot to work on. (On Tom Abell) A really, really good player of spin. He has many options and is a really nice guy to have at No.3. Marco has been in really good form. We were in a crutch situation and wanted a guy in form. Stubbs hasn't been in good form.

Keshav Maharaj (DSG captain): We bowled too many soft boundary balls and even fielding wasn't upto the mark. Credits to Sunrisers. We are doing the good things as well, need to keep investing in those. Quinton has done well at that position and Parsons is doing well too. We are losing too many wickets. Application is where we are lacking. Need to go back to the drawing board and work on those things. Thank you to all the fans supporting us, hopefully we'll give them something to cheer on next time.

Noor Ahmad has been adjudged Player Of The Match! Here's what he has to say: Just trying to contribute to the team, bowling wicket to wicket, and that yields a good result. The communication within the team is very good, we keep bouncing inputs off each other about the wicket and different conditions. Just keep it simple, trying to do what my natural ability is, that's it. Not happy with the result, we'll try to come back strongly and win matches.

What a win this has been for Sunrisers Eastern Cape to finally get a 'W' next to their name in SAT20 2025. They have finally played like the defending champions as they get a much needed bonus point as well with this big win. They are still at the bottom of the table but this victory has ensured that they are very well alive in the race for the playoffs.

Top performance on both fronts for the Sunrisers. Batting first on a sluggish track, they lost Bedingham early but a 48-run partnership between Crawley and Abell brought them back in the game. Abell brought up his half-century and struck close to 150, which is gold on such a wicket. Markram went on yet another golden duck followed by Hermann soon. Noor Ahmad was becoming a nightmare with his four-fer but late strikes from Marco Jansen and Stubbs ensured that SEC reach a total of 165.

Their bowlers were right on the money throughout the innings. DSG's opening partnership between Breetzke and Parson was of 40 runs but the SEC bowlers made sure they didn't get that easy. Parsons became a victim to a mix up in the middle and then Dawson, making his comeback, struck twice to put the Sunrisers on top. The wickets kept falling then with Williamson and Klassen both departing for single-digit scores. With De Kock and Mulder at the crease, the Giants had a slight chance to make a comeback but it was not meant to be as the pace trio of Gleeson, Baartman, and Jansen took the game away completely to hand SEC their first win of the season.

18.1 Ottniel Baartman to Keshav Maharaj, MIDDLE STUMP'S SENT PACKING, and the Sunrisers Eastern Cape are off the blocks! Baartman goes full and straight, gets the ball to tail in. Maharaj has a full-blooded hoick at it, meets thin air, and the ball goes on to rip the middle stump right out the ground, taking out the stump mic as well

It's clearly Dawson's night. First he impressed with the ball and now in the field as well. Very lazy from Woakes here to give his wicket in such a manner.

17.3 Richard Gleeson to Keshav Maharaj, direct hit, and Woakes might be in trouble! On a hard length, angled in towards off stump. Maharaj dabs it towards Dawson at point. Both batters start for a run, both hesitate and decide to turn back. Dawson, though, had a surprise in store - he had a shy at the stumps at the bowler's with his right arm and hit.

The third umpire has a look, and he sees Woakes well short of the crease as he tried to slide his bat back in. DSG lose their eighth!
