6:30 PM local time (10 PM IST): So that is it from this game that was to be played between Durban's Super Giants and Pretoria Capitals after Keshav Maharaj opted to bowl. However, the rain gods had some other plans, and it poured enough to make the field damp enough for the game to be called off by the officials. I, Keshav, with my co-commentator Bala, bid you a goodbye. For now, you can tune into the ILT20 game as the Sharjah Warriors are romping over the Gulf Giants while chasing.
6:26 PM local time (9:56 PM IST):The game is called off due to wet outfield and the players are shaking hands. The points will be shared between the two sides. There were hopes of game starting, however, following an inspection the umpires decided to abandon the game considering the danger a wet outfield could pose to the players.
6:11 PM local time (9:41 PM IST):A 5 overs a side game will be held beginning at 6:36 PM local time (10:16 PM IST). So, the Pretoria Capitals will walk out to bat first as called by the Super Giants captain at the toss.
5:55 PM local time (9:25 PM IST): The covers are being taken off by the groundsmen and even the stumps are put. The players are out and warming up. So, it shouldn't be long before the game begins. However, there are some doubts over the condition of the field.
Keshav Maharaj (captain, Durban's Super Giants): It's about keeping fresh because you just play and travel throughout the tournament, so yeah it's my job as a captain to keep the guys fresh. Last time around, we got close but fell just short as the players were exhausted.
5:40 PM local time (9:10 PM IST): We have some good news for you. It has stopped raining here in Centurion and the Supersopper is doing the job of clearing out the water around the covers.
5:15 PM local time (8:45 PM IST): The game should start by 6:36 PM local time (10:06 PM IST) for a shortened game of 5 overs a side as per the official statement. That means we still have around 1 hour and 20 minutes before the game is called off. However, the situation hasn’t improved, and it’s still pouring at the SuperSport Park.
While the frustrating wait continues, you can just alt+tab and follow some action from Dubai in the ILT20 League. The Gulf Giants are facing off against Sharjah Warriors under the Ring of Fire.
Durban's Super Giants' captain, Keshav Maharaj, was astonished to see one of the key signings reply. Check out what the skipper said about it.
4:45 PM local time (8:15 PM IST): No much has changed in terms of rain delay. The umbrellas are still on at the SuperSport Park.
Amogh: "Rain, rain, why do you come like a train? Please go back like a plane. We are waiting for this match in line."--We hope rain listens to your and thousands of others' wishes for the rain gods to stop it for the day at Centurion so that we get to witness some action.
What a brilliant grab by Dewald Brevis on the fence to dismiss Faf du Plessis. Check out the link below.
4:19 PM local time (7:49 PM IST): The covers are on, and it's still raining. We are going to witness some reduction in the overs whenever the game begins.
Shivam:"Today Rahmanullah Gurbaz will play well."--Let's hope he provides us some good cricketing action again today, riding on his form from the last game where he scored 89 off 43 balls. Alas, his side fell short by just two runs.
Amogh: "Will Jacks, all the best! I hope you will score more today."--Let's see what he has got in store for us. But for that, we will have to pray to rain gods, and we say, rain, rain, go away.
3:58 PM local time (7:28 PM IST): It's still raining at Supersport Park in Centurion. The Super Sopper is doing the job so that it doesn't take long for the action to begin once the rain stops.
Sachin Bantar:"Heinrich Klaasen's bat will be in action today 🔥🔥🔥"--We hope that your prediction comes true, and even Klaasen would be hoping for that after getting dismissed for a two-ball duck in the last game.
Ankesh kumar: "Will Jacks is my favourite cricketer. I am from India I support Will Jacks"--He is among the best T20 batters at the moment and started off the campaign with a half-century against the same opposition, Durban's Super Giants. You would be hoping for him to score big again today, albeit the overhead conditions will make it slightly tricky.
