And that is that for today's auction. We leave you with this poll below as you get to have your say on which team you reckon is the best of the lot on paper after this player auction. Of course, this is just half the job done even as cliched as it may sound. WPL 2025 is expected to be played in February with the dates yet to be announced. Whenever there's an update on that, we'll have you covered on this very platform so do make sure you keep watching this space for more. For the moment though, on behalf of my good friend Sourabh Agrawal, this is Sooryanarayanan Sesha taking your leave while reminding you to keep following Sportskeeda for all the latest cricketing news and updates. Oh, and don't forget to hop over here for our coverage of the first T20I between the Indian women's team and their West Indian counterparts commencing in under an hour from now. How do the squads shape up after WPL Auction 2025?

And so, with the 18-member rosters locked in for the new season, this is how the five teams take shape at the end of today's auction. Have a look for yourselves!👇

17:37 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Who is G Kamalini, MI's newest signing?

G Kamalini was undoubtedly the story of the auction. The 16-year old wicket-keeper batter from Tamil Nadu fetched a sum of ₹ 1.6 crore from the Mumbai Indians today. Here's more on her! 👇

17:25 (IST)15 DEC 2024

WPL Auction 2025 concludes - Simran Shaikh, Deandra Dottin fetch big bucks!

And that is that as the WPL Auction 2025 comes to a close. A little over two hours is all it took for teams to fill their remaining slots and there were certainly a number of talking points through the course of this period too.

So what transpired today? Well, it all began with a bidding war for Deandra Dottin with the UP Warriorz and the Gujarat Giants going all in. Eventually, the Giants snapped her up for ₹ 1.7 crore to bolster that middle-order. It was clearly what was on their minds ahead of this auction as they also went all out for the powerful Simran Shaikh, shelling out a whopping ₹ 1.9 crore that marked the costliest pick of the day.

No player breached the ₹ 2 crore mark this time around. But teams swiftly went about their work with Mumbai Indians making a shrewd pick in the form of Nadine de Klerk for ₹ 30 lakh before splurging for the exciting U19 opener G Kamalini, for whom they splurged ₹ 1.6 crore. It was a rather quiet auction for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru who didn't have a lot of work to do but once they did get into the market, they went aggressively for Uttarakhand's Prema Rawat, securing the leg-spinning all-rounder's services for ₹ 1.2 crore and sealing a potential backup for Sobhana Asha.

The Delhi Capitals sure were busy, going hard for Shaikh earlier before settling for two wicket-keeping options in Nandini Kashyap - a steal at ₹ 10 lakh - and Scotland's Sarah Bryce, who gives them the option of playing a fifth overseas player since she hails from an Associate team.

The UP Warriorz were very quiet after the Dottin bid before eventually snapping up three players - all at base, with the most high profile of the lot being Australian leg-spinner Alana King, bolstering an already strong spin unit even further. And towards the end, the Giants smartly took two more players at base - all-rounder Danielle Gibson of England and Indian leggie Prakashika Naik.

But then of course, there were some surprises and shocks too. None more so than Sneh Rana going unsold as the once vice-captain of the Giants had no takers. That will surely take a while to digest while the likes of Darcie Brown, Lauren Bell and Sarah Glenn also failed to command a bid. Auction dynamics of course - limited slots to fill and that surely went against these players whose quality cannot be questioned one bit despite this outcome.

17:17 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Danielle Gibson, Prakashika Naik head to Gujarat Giants

Just the one bidder in Gujarat Giants and England's Danielle Gibson has a taker in them at her base price of ₹ 30 lakh. And it's happy times for Prakashika Naik who also heads to the Giants for ₹ 10 lakh. Oh hello - some other team seemed to place a bid of ₹ 15 lakh but there are no slots. What an anticlimax but the Giants can break - Prakashika is theirs and the WPL Auction 2025 comes to a conclusion!

17:16 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Four teams fill their slots for WPL 2025

Only Gujarat Giants have slots left to fill. And it seems like they've been given the option of placing their request for two players of their choice.

17:15 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Once again, no bids in the market for Anusha Sundaresan. Much the same for Indrani Roy, who was earlier with the Royal Challengers. Another ex-RCB player, Simran Dil Bahadur, has also been passed aside. Likewise with left-arm spinner Preeti Bose.

17:14 (IST)15 DEC 2024

MI wind up squad with Akshita Maheshwari

A seam-bowling all-rounder from Rajasthan, MI duly swoop in for Akshita Maheshwari at ₹ 10 lakh. Their player and she completes their squad for WPL 2025!

17:13 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Wicket-keeper batter Shipra Giri doesn't generate interest in the market. Parunika Sisodia also has no taker, much like Hani Patel.

17:12 (IST)15 DEC 2024

DC snap up India U19 captain Niki Prasad!

Pratika Rawal clearly wasn't first choice but more of a Plan B for teams. Despite being presented in this round, she is unsold. But India's U19 captain Niki Prasad will play the WPL this time - Delhi Capitals take the player at ₹ 10 lakh!

17:10 (IST)15 DEC 2024

RCB sign Raghvi Bist and Jagravi Pawar.

Good news for Raghvi Bist. She will head to the WPL as RCB place an opening bid of ₹ 10 lakh. Done deal. Unfortunately for Humaira Kazi, she has been passed aside yet again. But RCB are in the market for Jagravi Pawar, who is the final signing for the defending champions at ₹ 10 lakh!

17:09 (IST)15 DEC 2024

No takers again for Sneh Rana!

This is nothing short of a shock. The Indian all-rounder goes unsold once again as there are no bids placed for her this time around too.

17:09 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Alana King heads to the WPL

The crafty leg-spinning all-rounder from Australia can say 'third time lucky' this time. UP Warriorz place an opening bid of ₹ 30 lakh and acquire the player's services!

17:07 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Back for the second accelerated round of the WPL Auction 2025

This is it. Time to complete the rosters. First up is England's Lauren Bell. Seeking a bid of ₹ 30 lakh but well, it's very unfortunate that she doesn't have a taker even now after being asked to be presented in the last accelerated round. She's unsold! No bids for Australia's Heather Graham either.

16:52 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Which teams have an overseas slot left in the WPL Auction 2025?

Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians have sealed their overseas rosters while only Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz have one slot each to fill on that front. Royal Challengers Bengaluru of course, in case you missed it, filled theirs prior to the auction via their retentions.

16:47 (IST)15 DEC 2024

These were the players sold in the accelerated round of the auction:

Arushi Goel - ₹ 0.1 Cr (UP Warriorz)
Kranti Goud - ₹ 0.1 Cr (UP Warriorz)
Sanskriti Gupta - ₹ 0.1 Cr (Mumbai Indians)
Joshitha VJ - ₹ 0.1 Cr (Royal Challengers Bengaluru)
Kathryn Bryce - ₹ 0.1 Cr (Delhi Capitals)

16:47 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Teams to submit two names each.

One more accelerated round loading. Teams have been asked to submit a maximum of two names each as the auction breaks for five minutes. Will Sneh Rana have a taker?

16:43 (IST)15 DEC 2024

First accelerated round comes to a close!

Komalpreet Kaur is up next. No bids though. Much the same for Shanu Sen. Next up is Anusha Sundaresan - last player of this accelerated round - but she too meets a similar fate.

16:41 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Sarah Bryce seeks a bid.

Her sister Kathryn was part of the WPL last year. But Sarah Bryce will head to the WPL this time. Delhi Capitals place an opening bid and take the player too at ₹ 10 lakh.

16:40 (IST)15 DEC 2024

The destructive Tess Flintoff of Australia is looking for a bid. But no takers for the Melbourne Stars all-rounder. Another Indian player now but Tanusree Sarkar also fails to fetch a taker. Prakashika Naik is next. The leggie played for India A against the touring England A side. But alas, it's not to be today.

16:40 (IST)15 DEC 2024

RCB bag their second player.

Joshitha VJ, the 18-year old pace-bowling all-rounder from Kerala, is next. RCB duly spot her talent and raise the paddle. Their player at a base price of ₹ 10 lakh!

16:39 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Shivani Singh will have to wait a little longer at least to bag her maiden WPL gig. Much the same for Parunika Sisodia, who was once part of the Giants.

16:37 (IST)15 DEC 2024

MI acquire Sanskriti Gupta at base price.

Madhya Pradesh's Sanskriti Gupta is up next. No bids...scratch that. MI raise the paddle and the player is theirs. Gupta goes to MI for ₹ 10 lakh!

16:36 (IST)15 DEC 2024

UPW make their first acquisitions of WPL Auction 2025.

The paddle goes up at last as the UP Warriorz place a bid for batter Arushi Goel. Just the one bid and the Warriorz have their player at ₹ 10 lakh! And next up is Kranti Goud who too fetches a bid from the Warriorz. UPW snap up Kranti Goud for the same price!

16:34 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Ashwani Kumari is next. She was with DC last season but there's still no interest in the room. Niki Prasad, India's captain for the U19 Asia Cup, also fails to fetch a bid. It's a similar story with Rima Ekka. She's also unsold.

16:33 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Still no bids in the accelerated round.

Another Uttarakhand player - Amisha Bahukhandi. But the paddles aren't going up at this point. Same fate for Priyanka Bala, who was with Mumbai Indians for the last two seasons. How about a taker for Australia's teenage sensation Milly Illingworth though? She bowls seam-up but once again, there's just no interest in the room.

16:31 (IST)15 DEC 2024

No bids for Lizelle Lee, Rosemary Mair.

She has been in breathtaking form, having scored twin tons for the Hobart Hurricanes in the WBBL. But at least at this point, there are no takers for Lee. She has also been passed aside. The only New Zealand player in this auction, Rosemary Mair, also fails to get a bid despite her World Cup heroics.

16:30 (IST)15 DEC 2024

And we're back for the accelerated round.

First up is Mansi Joshi. She led Mussoorie Thunders to the Uttarakhand Premier League title a few months ago. Any takers at ₹ 30 lakh for the seam bowler? Nope. Joshi is unsold!

16:28 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Here's a look at the purse remaining with the teams

Delhi Capitals - ₹ 1.85 crore
Gujarat Giants - ₹ 0.8 crore
Mumbai Indians - ₹ 0.75 crore
Royal Challengers Bengaluru - ₹ 2.05 crore
UP Warriorz - ₹ 3.9 crore

16:21 (IST)15 DEC 2024

It's an interesting point that Michael Klinger made about Simran Shaikh bringing that much needed muscle to the Giants' middle-order. She can certainly hit a long ball alright and she should make a good fit there alongside Dottin, who combine to refine that batting lineup.

Meanwhile, in case you RCB fans are wondering more about Prema Rawat, she is a leg-spinner who bats in the middle-order. She was the Player of the Final in the Uttarakhand Premier League this year, picking up 1/26 off her four overs before steering a tricky chase with an unbeaten 32 off 26 on a sluggish track.

Interestingly enough, UP Warriorz are yet to buy a player today. In fact, beyond Dottin, they haven't even bid for another player.

16:15 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Michael Klinger, Gujarat Giants head coach: Both Deandra Dottin and Simran Shaikh bring power and batting at a high strike-rate. They really complement the rest of our group. That often creates a winning culture and they're two very exciting picks. (On Dottin) I saw Deandra at the WBBL recently. Her power and the way she can change the game in a few overs, her accuracy with the ball - a multi-dimensional player is something we were after. Also her performances to power West Indies into the World Cup (semi) final - it was something we were after. Simran stands out in terms of her hitting power and that complements our Indian batters. She was the one we were targeting in that set too. We've got a pretty good idea on our last couple of players but in saying that it's unpredictable in a bidding war.

16:04 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Only seven players sold thus far out of the maximum possible nineteen. Sneh Rana not fetching a bid was the biggest shocker of the lot, it must be said. But it was a big payday for Simran Shaikh, Prema Rawat and G Kamalini, with Deandra Dottin going for a solid sum herself. Nandini Kashyap at ₹ 10 lakh was by some distance the steal of the auction with Delhi Capitals securing another wicket-keeper batter for their roster. Only MI have sealed their overseas quota with the acquisition of Nadine de Klerk - RCB sealed theirs pre-auction of course - so the other teams all have one overseas slot left. Should be an interesting accelerated process!

15:59 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Here's a look at the players who have been sold so far:

Deandra Dottin ₹1.7 Cr (Gujarat Giants)
Nadine de Klerk ₹0.3 Cr (Mumbai Indians)
G Kamalini ₹1.6 Cr (Mumbai Indians)
Simran Shaikh ₹1.9 Cr (Gujarat Giants)
Nandini Kashyap ₹0.1 Cr (Delhi Capitals)
Prema Rawat ₹1.2 Cr (Royal Challengers Bengaluru)
N Charani ₹0.55 Cr (Mumbai Indians)

15:49 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Teams to nominate five players each!

Each team can now nominate up to five players each for the accelerated process. The auction breaks for half an hour!

15:49 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Fatima Jaffer is next.

Left-arm spinning all-rounder Fatima Jaffer was part of MI last season. She hails from Mumbai too. But unfortunately, she doesn't have a taker just yet. No bids!

15:48 (IST)15 DEC 2024

The destructive Laura Harris is next.

A bid of ₹ 10 lakh is what she's seeking. A destructive finisher but once again, very few overseas slots. That goes against her as Laura Harris fetches no bid.

15:46 (IST)15 DEC 2024

N Charani heads to DC

Sonal Thakur fetches no bids. But it's a different story with N Charani, who MI have seen something in. The paddle goes up before DC enter the fray - they've been pretty busy today haven't they? A discussion after the bid crosses ₹ 50 lakh but the Capitals place one more bid. That's that for MI - Charani heads to the Capital at ₹ 55 lakh!

15:43 (IST)15 DEC 2024

RCB arrive at last with a bid!

In case you were wondering, we can confirm that Royal Challengers Bengaluru are very much part of the auction. We have proof as well as they go up with a bid for Prema Rawat, the leg-spinning all-rounder from Uttarakhand. It starts at ₹ 10 lakh before DC jump in and get a bidding war going. To-and-fro, to-and-fro and it's over a crore. Delhi don't have a lot of funds compared to RCB and they're out. RCB bag their first player as Prema Rawat is acquired for ₹ 1.2 crore!

15:42 (IST)15 DEC 2024

S Yashasri, Pratika Rawal also unsold

S Yashasri can clock serious speeds and was part of the Warriorz for the last two editions. But unfortunately, there are no paddles going up. Pratika Rawal, picked in India's ODI squad to face the West Indies, also fails to fetch a bid. 14-year old Ira Jadhav, the youngest player in today's auction, will also have to wait just a little longer for a taker.

15:41 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Here's a recap of the uncapped players that have been sold:

G Kamalini ₹1.6 Cr (Mumbai Indians)
Simran Shaikh ₹1.9 Cr (Gujarat Giants)
Nandini Kashyap ₹0.1 Cr (Delhi Capitals)

15:39 (IST)15 DEC 2024

No bids for Humaira Kazi.

Part of MI for the last two seasons, she has been in excellent form. But alas, she has to wait just yet for another calling. She's unsold. The same holds for Jagravi Pawar, who has been passed aside too. But how about a taker for Raghvi Bist anyone? She's part of the Indian squad to face the West Indies but well, what do we know - no bids for Raghvi either!

15:38 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Nandini Kashyap time!

Surely some bids now. Expecting multiple bids here. No paddles up yet but DC eventually go up. And well well - that's it eh? Yup. I can barely believe my eyes but it's true - Nandini Kashyap goes to DC for ₹ 10 lakh! Steal of the auction beyond doubt!

15:37 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Tanisha Singh is unsold

The talented Delhi player is seeking her maiden WPL gig. But it's not to be just yet - Tanisha has no takers!

15:31 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Simran Shaikh is the most expensive player yet in the WPL Auction 2025!

Are we back to no bidding then now? Nope - DC go up at ₹ 30 lakh before Gujarat Giants also hop in. The paddles go up now - to-and-fro and we're swiftly up to a crore and beyond. She was part of UPW in 2023 but an improved game has seen the demand for her services shoot up. A discussion on the Giants table as DC hold the bid at ₹ 1.6 crore before they go up again. A couple of bids later, it's Delhi's turn to discuss. A long discussion with Sourav Ganguly and Ananya Upendran part of the discussion - they eventually bail out though. GG bag Simran Shaikh for ₹ 1.9 crore!

15:30 (IST)15 DEC 2024

Windfall for U19 sensation G Kamalini!

First up, we have Tamil Nadu's G Kamalini. She has been selected in India's U19 Asia Cup squad and Mumbai Indians have duly seen what she's capable of. Delhi Capitals jump in on time just as the hammer as about to come down. And we have a bidding war! The bids keep shooting up - that's a rarity today alright. But it's over a crore and it keeps going up and up. Neither team is budging just yet. It's at ₹ 1.6 crore and Sourav Ganguly, who is raising the paddle for the Capitals, signals that they're out. MI bag G Kamilini for ₹ 1.6 crore! Here's something by the way - she was also the Player of the Match today in India's win over Pakistan at the U19 Asia Cup!
