GRADE FOR WWE NXT (JANUARY 14, 2025): B.
The opening match between Shotzi and Stephanie Vaquer and the closing tag team title match were the best offerings of the night. The surprise appearances from Bayley, DIY, and TNA's Masha Slamovich are the type of surprise the main roster shows (especially the highly touted RAW on Netflix debut) have either been missing or botched. Giulia's "address" as Champ was a big letdown.

Roxy says Bayley is just like everyone she "used" to look up to. NXT doesn't "owe" Bayley anything since she broke Bayley's records. Roxy thinks she could be Bayley's Role Model now. The show gets cut off before the exchange can finish.

Bayley says she knew Roxy would be mad that she lost. She can either act like she is now or adapt to the situation. Perez cuts her off and says she wasn't asking for her advice. Bayley says she's been doing that since she walked into WWE. Bayley says the division is going to be fine without Perez.

Roxy says Giulia was the better woman last week. She also congratulates the crowd because it's (title change) what they wanted before saying the division won't be as good without her. NXT doesn't and the fans don't deserve her. She says this generation only needed one women and not Four Horsewomen. That tease brings out Bayley!

Roxanne Perez is in the ring off the commercial break. She says no one thought she'd have nine title defenses and a 270-day reign. She adds she only wanted to make a women's division that could main event, including bringing some of the best women from around the world to NXT.

After the match, we see Roxanne Perez heading to the ring. Before heading to the commercial, we see a white SUV pulling up in the parking lot. Someone in boots exits, and it looks like it's a female star. Who could it be now?????

He tries to chokeslam Axiom on it but Axiom transitions into a kick. Nima is on the top but absorbs damage from the Champs. After Axiom tags in, Frazer hits a splash on Price on the announce table. Axiom finishes things off with a Spanish Fly and the Golden Ratio kick to pick up the win.
Result - FrAxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom) defeats OTM (Lucien Price and Bronco Nima) by pin.

GRADE: B+.
This is the best that OTM has looked but a big part of it could be thanks to Axiom and Frazer. The teams meshed well and utilized their strengths at various points. The finishing sequence was great and OTM proved a lot to me with this match.

Frazer hits a blind tag but Price doesn't notice it. He manages to catch both men, slamming Nathan onto Axiom. Nima tags in and gets a near fall on Frazer. Price and Axiom battle on the outside. Price clears the announce table

Price evades a Phoenix Splash before hitting a modified Uranage. Nima tags in and they hit an innovative tandem throw on Frazer but Axiom breaks up the pin. The Champs line Price up for a Missile Dropkick off the top but he kicks out. Axiom counters into an armbar and then the Rings of Saturn. NIma tries to break it up but gets trapped in a Guillotine by Frazer. They counter out when Nima suplexes Frazer on top of Price and Axiom.

Nima and Price keep the Champs grounded. Axiom goes for a Crossbody but is caught by Nima. Nima tries for a move but takes too long, allowing Axiom to counter into a Crucifix pin. He tags Frazer in and Nima tags Price in. Frazer hits kicks on both members of OTM. He hits a standing Shooting Star Press for two.

NIma hits a stomp off the top rope for a one count. Frazer fights back with a kick before tagging Axiom in. Nima rushes in as the Champs take control. Axiom kicks Lucien Price in the chest a few times but it has no effect. He drops Axiom with a big Lariat.

Up next is the tag team title match between FrAxiom and OTM. There's a noticeable size difference as OTM towers over the Champs. DIY appears in the arena pulpit. Nima works Frazer over in the ring.

Backstage, FrAxiom is confronted by Josh Briggs and Inamura. Briggs is mad that they didn't get the Champ's "attention" after saving them from a parking lot brawl. They want the next shot. OTM says they'll be Champs so they're talking to the wrong team. The two duos throw fists.

Cora then looks at and motions to Slamovich in the front row before leaving. Eddy Thorpe then cuts a promo via Instagram. He says he set the bait and trap again for Oba and he walked into it.

Kelani hits a modified Impaler DDT for a close call. She then stomps on Jade like she's Daniel Bryan. She continues the stomps in the corner until the official pulls her off of Cora. She pushes him aside and rushes her again. Kelani reigns down some punches and the ref tries to pull her off again. As he tries, Cora rakes Kelani's eyes. She then hits a DDT for the win.
Result - Cora Jade defeats Kelani Jordan by pin.

Result - B-.
The women have decent chemistry but the match never got out of first gear. They had some good exchanges but nothing really stood out.

Jade lands a big knee after a brief exchange of offense. Jordan fights back with a back suplex. Tony D vs. Ridge Holland is announced for next week after their fight from tonight.

After a few shoves, Cora leaves the ring. Jordan gives chase and gets the first pin attempt of the match. She goes to the top but Jade stops her progress. Cora traps Kelani in the ropes to land a chop and kick. She stomps on Jordan's back before getting a near fall.

Before Kelani Jordan takes on Cora Jade, we see Knockouts Champ Masha Slamovich in the crowd!! Wow!!

DIY is not here to stand around but to stir things up . . .

Lash and Jakara get another shot at tag team gold.

Honestly, the Unholy Union deserve much better than what they've had on the main roster and recently in NXT.

Lexis King is getting his plates put on the Heritage Cup. Charles Dempsey and Wren Sinclair walk up and Dempsey congratulates him. Wren thinks he cheated and wants a rematch. On a day when not a lot has made sense, Ava grants him the rematch while others have to fight one or even two or three matches just to get another shot. They're interrupted by Tony D brawling with Ridge Holland outside.

Alba tags in and Lash finally does as Alba goes for a Gory Bomb. The Meta Ladies hit a tandem move that ends with a cutter to pick up the win.
Result - Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson defeat The Unholy Union (Isla Dawn/Alba Fyre) by pin.

GRADE: C.
The match was clunky in points that hurt the flow. There were some good exchanges but the total lack of regard from the ref messed things up. Since both teams already lost, it didn't make sense for these two to battle for another shot.

The former Champs isolate Legend so they can focus on Jakara. They hit a Backstabber/Senton combo but Lash breaks up the pin. Lash gets in Isla's face but gets hit with a facebuster by Isla. SHut your mouth and hit more offense!

Lash gets the hot tag to take out both of the Unholy Union. The ref doesn't try to get the illegal member out of the ring, instead just letting Lash hit offense on both of them. Isla breaks up a pin and plays mind games with Legend. The ref continues to ignore that both women are in the ring. Lash tags in Jakara and she hits a slow crossbody on both opponents.

Isla keeps screaming like a banshee. Legend tags Jakara in to put her on her shoulders. Fyre cuts Legend out at the knee to send Jackson into the ring buckle. Fyre hits a Hurricanrana on Lash before hitting a Cannonball off the top on both opponents.

Lash decks Isla with a forearm but Fyre grabs Lash's hair while the ref's back is turned. The former Champs work over Lash in their corner.

After Fyre controls Jackson, Jackson makes the tag to Lash. Isla comes in as well and Lash gets control for her team. Jackson then comes back in since Lash got control. She hits a move off the ropes for two. Lash tags back in and Meta Four hits a tandem move for another pin.

How does going back to NXT translate to getting a title shot if they've already lost? It just confuses this guy is all. Vic says something he probably thought was smart - Jakara doesn't care about history. She cares about the here and the now. That sums up the younger gen of wanting what they want without truly earning or deserving it.

Which team will get their umpteenth title shot - The Unholy Union or Lash Legend/Jakara Jackson???

Before the next match, DIY is in the building to be interviewed by Sarah Schreiber. Ciampa says they're back because they keep hearing that FrAxiom is the best team in NXT history. Please don't interfere in the match. By the power of Grayskull, please.

The No.1 Contender's match for the Women's Tag titles is between two teams that have already lost to the Champs. A few times each.

We get a video package of Giulia winning the title and the requisite shots of being congratulated by Triple H and the Rock. The show then has a huge glitch as Vic is trying to talk. A WWE Shop ad with Trick begins to air but is cut off to go back to the action.

In the background, Shawn Michaels was spotted talking to Roxanne Perez.

Oba Femi is walking in the background and is congratulated by Dion Lennox. We then pivot to Shawn Spears recruiting Adrianna Rizzo until Izzi Dame walks over to tell him neither of them needs him. Dame says to tell The Don that they're even since he stood up for her a few weeks back. We pivot to the cringe-worthy Ashante Adonis/Karmen Petrovic angle. He gives her a rose and she kisses him. WWE at its finest.

Don't forget, Je'Von, you have a "broken jaw"

All Ego then traps Chen's leg in between the steel steps and the ring before kicking it. Je'Von Evans then comes out to try and save him but doesn't have luck. Way to sell the severity of the broken jaw after only a few weeks.

All Ego rushes Chen as he fires himself up in the ring. Chen lands a few kicks and goes for another but Page rolls out of the way. He hits a DDT to pick up the fast win.
Result - Ethan Page defeats Dante Chen by pin.

GRADE: D.
It sells Page as ruthless and Chen shouldn't be beating Page. Still, it was way too quick and the finish came from nowhere.

Up next is Dante Chen taking on Ethan Page.

Backstage, Oba Femi rushes into Ava's office to demand Thorpe get a title shot so he can destroy him. Ava doesn't want to reward Eddy for "bad behavior." Mr. Stone tells Oba not to let Eddy play him like a fiddle. Femi puts his hands on Stone by slamming him against the wall. He won't be fined or punished for putting his hands on the assistant GM though.

During the break, Stephanie Vaquer was going on a rampage backstage.
