Clyde Edwards-Helaire is two-time Super Bowl champion and CFP national champion who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs. In his 8 postseason appearances, Edwards has rushed for 220 yards. He signed with the Chiefs on a one-year deal in 2024 after his rookie contract was up.

As a rusher, he has accumulated an impressive total of 1,845 yards with an average of 4.2 yards per carry, reaching the end zone 12 times with rushing touchdowns. Additionally, he has showcased his versatility in the passing game and secured 88 receptions for a total of 765 receiving yards and contributed 7 touchdowns through the air.

Edwards-Helaire was born to Clyde Edwards Senior and Tonge Helaire. He was born to them on April 11, 1999, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, U.S. However, he has a stepfather named Shannon Helaire. He was raised by both his mother and stepfather. Edwards and Tonge Helaire were only dating and were never married.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire Father

Clyde Edwards Senior is Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s biological father. His stepfather is Shannon Helaire. Edwards Sr. also played football during his high school days, however, due to having money problems he decided on a dark path to support his family. When he was only twenty-two years old he was arrested for drug possession. Edwards-Helaire was only eleven months old when his biological father was arrested. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison for possession of drugs.

He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Shannon Helaire. Tonge and Helaire met at Elayn Hunt Correctional Facility in St. Gabriel, Louisiana. He was a drill sergeant there. Helaire treated Edwards-Helaire like a son. The running back himself admitted that he never felt he didn't have a father because his stepfather was always there for him. He even changed his last name out of respect for his stepfather which is why he has two last names.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire Mother

Tonge Helaire is Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s mother. She worked as a drill sergeant. She married Helaire in 2002. Edwards-Helaire has revealed that it was because of his parents’ backgrounds as military workers that drilled in his competitiveness.
