David Montgomery Parents

David Montgomery is number 5 of the Detroit Lions. He plays as a running back for the team. Born on June 7, 1997, he is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S.

He achieved Eagle Scout status and excelled as a dual-threat high school quarterback. Montgomery rushed for 6,666 yards and 91 touchdowns in his four-year career. In 2015, he earned Division III Ohio Player of the Year and Southwest District Offensive Player of the Year honors. His senior season included 2,707 rushing yards. This ended up ranking him in 21st in Ohio high school history, with standout performances like a 373-yard game.

Montgomery committed to go to Iowa State University. David Montgomery made a strong start to his collegiate football career in 2016, playing all 12 games and starting the final four as a true freshman. He led the team in rushing with 563 yards and earned recognition as Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for a standout performance against Kansas.

Montgomery's breakout season came in 2017, leading the Cyclones in rushing and yards from scrimmage. He ranked second in the Big 12 in rushing yards and touchdowns and led the nation in forced missed tackles. Notable performances included a 164-yard rushing game against Texas Tech and three consecutive 100-yard games.

Despite a slow start, Montgomery finished the 2018 season strong with four consecutive 100-yard games from mid-September to mid-October. He concluded the season with three more 100-yard games, including the Alamo Bowl, finishing with 1,216 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, ranking second in the Big 12 in both categories.

David Montgomery Parents

David Montgomery was born to Roberta Feltha Mitchell and an unnamed father. He grew up with only his mother as a parent. The running back had to constantly move around in Cincinnati because of financial issues the family faced when he was young. He has one brother, Maceo Montgomery who was imprisoned on charges of murder and drug trafficking. He also has two other siblings whose names are not known.
