Dennis Duane 'DJ' Reed Jr. is an American football cornerback for the Detroit Lions in the NFL as of March 2025. The San Francisco 49ers selected Reed as the 142nd pick in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He attended Independence High School for his primary education, where he began his football career. During high school, he recorded a total of 6 interceptions and 1,150 total yards of offense with 13 touchdowns and was named MVP in his high school. Reed's collegiate career began with Fresno State in 2014 as a freshman.

Reed transferred from Fresno State to Cerritos College, where as a freshman, he recorded 42 tackles and two interceptions in 11 games. After the end of the 2015 season, he transferred again to Kansas State University, playing for the Wildcats in 2016. Reed recorded 75 tackles and 16 pass deflections as a redshirt sophomore, while being named to the 2016 All-Big 12 Conference football team. He recorded 47 total tackles and four interceptions after starting in 11 games in the 2017 season. Reed’s NFL career began with the San Francisco 49ers in the 2018 season. Reed has also played for the Seattle Seahawks (2020–2021), and New York Jets (2022–2024) before joining the Detroit Lions.
