Jaylen Harrell is an American football player who excelled as a defensive end while playing for the University of Michigan at the collegiate level. During his tenure with the Michigan Wolverines football team, he secured the coveted CFP National Championship title. Following a successful 2023 season, he officially declared for the 2024 NFL Draft in January 2024.
Harrell joined Michigan in 2020 and played 4 games as a true freshman. The following year as a sophomore, he received more game time but he was still some ways away from having a good year. Harrell turned things around in 2022 and had two consistent seasons where he averaged around 30 tackles and 5 sacks in two years.
Harrell is considered a skilled athlete who should make his living in the NFL with his pass rush. With his father being a former NFL player, he has an advantage of sorts by already knowing what to expect. However, as a defensive end, he is a bit undersized and will need to work hard to get by bigger offensive linemen and tight ends.
